What’s the occasion?
We, Padmavathy and Balaji got married  My periappa, M.S.Shanmugam and my dad, M.S.Thangaraj plan the menu for all the celebrations in our close family circle. Our wedding menu was also planned by them.

Food : ordered

Details of Caterer : Ramasamy Iyer, Srivilliputhur.

Menu :

Day 1 (25.02.2012) :

Lunch : Steamed Rice, Bonda Mor Kuzhambu, Pineapple Rasam, Ennai Kathirikkai Vathakkal (Brinjal Fry), Chow Chow Kootu (Chayote Kootu), Milk Payasam, Buttermilk, Anaiadi Appalam, Raw Mango Thokku.

Evening : Mysore Pak, Medhu Vadai, Coconut Chutney, Tea.

Dinner : Vegetable Soup, Appam with Coconut Milk, Rava Dosai, Sambar, Coriander Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Parotta, Vegetable Salna, Gulab Jamun, Badam Milk.

Day 2 – Wedding (26.02.2012) :

Breakfast : Mini Idli with Sambar, Ghee Pongal, Podi Uthappam, Poori, Potato Masala, Sambar, Kara Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Sambar Vadai. Thiripagam (a special sweet of tirunelveli), Coffee.

Lunch : Steamed Rice, Dal with Ghee, Sambar, Vatha Kuzhambu, Tomato Rasam, Vegetable Biryani, Onion Raita, Beans Paruppu Usili, Aviyal, White Pumpkin Kootu, Vendaikkai Maangai Pachadi (Okra Raw Mango Pachadi), Seppankilangu Roast (Arbi Roast), Puli Milagai (Green Chilli Tamarind Thokku), Buttermilk, Murukku Vathal, Anaiadi Appalam, Bajji, Poli, Semiya Milk Payasam, Ada Pradhaman, Banana, Vanilla Icecream with Chocolate & Nuts Topping, Vanilla Icecream with Strawberry & Nuts Topping.

Evening : Jhangri, Mysore Bonda, Coconut Chutney, Tea.

Dinner : Adai, Aviyal, Idiyappam, Vegetable Kurma, Curd Rice, Coriander Chutney, Carrot Halwa.

Day 3 (27.02.2012) :

Breakfast (This meal is called as Palahara Pandhi) :
Idli, Brinjal Kothsu, Coconut Chutney, Rava Kichadi, Paruppu Vadai, Ladoo, Oma Podi, Kadalai Paniyaram (Groundnut Chikki), Grated Coconut with Sugar, Coffee.

Lunch (This is usually hosted by bridegroom’s family. This meal is called Sodhi Saapadu) :
Steamed Rice, Sodhi (Coconut Milk Curry), Potato Kara Curry, Cabbage Kootu, Rasam, Ginger Pachadi, Buttermilk, Mor Milagai, Anaiadi Appalam, Potato Chips, Moong Dal Payasam.

Evening : Badusha, Medhu Pakoda, Coconut Chutney, Tea.

Dinner : Idli, Coconut Varuthu Aracha Chutney, Tomato Chutney.

    1. Actually my dad had written this in a diary after his discussion with the cook. So I thought it would be nice to document the menu as that is one of the difficult tasks of any celebration. Thanks for your comments dear πŸ™‚
